Motorola Edge 50 Ultra tipped to debut as smartphone with flagship charging specs and single potential deal-breaker
Despite its name, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 can be considered more of an 8 Gen 2 refresh to bring high-end Qualcomm silicon that balances performance with power efficiency for the latest generation of 'flagship killer' smartphones.
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is backed to be chief among these, with a triple rear camera system slated to contain an on-trend periscope zoom lens, now tipped to be 75mm and to be accompanied by a decently-sized 1/1.3-inch 50MP main shooter.
Prolific leaker Digital Chat Station also now asserts that the 50 Ultra will have an equally in-demand 1.5K resolution for its display of Motorola's signature 144Hz curved OLED spec profile. All of this is tipped to come in a premium package with a metal mid-frame bearing Dolby Atmos branding.
It is depicted as colored to match the new Jupiter Rock-like Sisal or greenish Black vegan leather-patterned colorways that may or may not accompany Peach Fuzz as Edge 50 Ultra finish options on its imminent launch.
However, despite all the promise of all these alleged details, there is one catch: the Edge 50 Ultra's battery, which might make it as versatile as the new OnePlus 12 with 50W wireless charging to go with its super-fast 125W wired charging (another Motorola specialty), is also now predicted to spend more time using either function than the user might like with a capacity of no more than 4,500mAh.
Meanwhile, other devices of its probable price-bracket (such as this OnePlus 12R on Amazon) have already progressed to as much as 1,000mAh more in 2024.
