Motorola Edge 2023 launches in North America with 144 Hz pOLED display, 50 MP camera and 68 W charging
Motorola has launched the Edge 2023 in North America, a handset that the company also refers to as the Edge Gen 4 or simply the 'new Edge'. Ostensibly, the Edge 2023 borrows heavily from the Edge 40 and Edge 40 Neo, which debuted in May and September 2023, respectively. As far as we can tell, the Edge 2023 will remain a North American exclusive like its predecessor.
On the one hand, Motorola has repurposed the display it uses in the Edge 40. Thus, the Edge 2023 has a pOLED panel that measures 6.6-inches across with a 1080p resolution, 1,200 nits peak brightness and a 144 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the display sits within a 158.4 x 72 x 7.6 mm housing, which corresponds with a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio. Also, the Edge 2023 retains a 32 MP front-facing camera that sits behind a small punch-hole beneath its earpiece grille.
On the other hand, the Edge 2023 relies upon the MediaTek Dimensity 7030, a 6 nm chipset found in the Edge 40 Neo. According to Motorola, it pairs the Dimensity 7030 with a 4,400 mAh battery that supports 68 W and 15 W wireless charging, another similarity with the Edge 40. Likewise, the Edge 2023 has 50 MP primary and 13 MP ultra-wide-angle cameras, although only the former supports OIS.
The Edge 2023 ships with Android 13, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, but just in an Eclipse Black colourway. Currently, the Edge 2023 is available in the US for US$499.99 with a US$599.99 MSRP or in Canada for CAD$849.99. Please see Motorola's website for more details.
