Google Pixel 8a: New renders showcase design similarities with Pixel 8 flagship
@OnLeaks has partnered with SmartPrix to deliver CAD-based renders of the Pixel 8a, Google's next mid-range smartphone. Typically, @OnLeaks offers first looks at unreleased devices, including the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. However, Abhishek Yadav shared hands-on photos of the Pixel 8a last month, likely of an engineering prototype rather than a retail unit.
Thus, @OnLeaks has effectively corroborated last month's leaks, which focused on the Pixel 8a's design. As expected, the Pixel 8a will adopt the rounder shape of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Arguably, it will be improbable to tell the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a apart from the back. Instead, display bezels will be the main visual clue distinguishing the pair.
Unsurprisingly, the Pixel 8a will have the thicker bezels of the two, with Google taking a uniform approach with its flagships this year. In comparison, the Pixel 8a has a noticeably thicker bottom bezel, although Google appears to have slimmed down all sides from the Pixel 7a. The Pixel 8a will be just as large as its predecessor though at 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9 mm. As a result, the Pixel 8a will be marginally larger than the Pixel 8 too, which measures 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9 mm. While Google has not commented on the Pixel 8a yet, the company tends to refresh its mid-range smartphones during its I/O conferences, which occur every spring.
