CheckMag | Google Pixel 8a: Potentially a worthy successor to the Google Pixel 7a
Google is gearing up to introduce a new addition to its A series of smartphones. The Pixel 8a promises enhanced features and cutting-edge technology. Notably, the camera quality will be elevated with the integration of the Tensor G3 chipset, optimizing both camera functionality and display performance. The anticipated display will feature OLED technology with a Full HD resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate.
According to the latest reports, in terms of storage options users can expect two variants offering capacities of 128 GB and 256 GB, a departure from the Pixel 7a, which had a single 128 GB variant. The primary camera setup is rumored to include a 64 MP Samsung (jN2) sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 13 MP front camera equipped with a Sony IMX sensor—aligning with the specifications of the Google Pixel 7a, powered by the Tensor G2 chipset.
Leaked information suggests that the upcoming device will be slimmer and smaller than its predecessor, with dimensions reported at 5.9 (H) x 2.85 (W) x 0.35 (D) inches. By comparison, the Pixel 7a measures 6 (H) x 2.8 (W) x 0.35 (D) inches. Additionally, both devices boast an identical 6.1-inch display.
The Pixel 8a appears to be a follow-up to the Pixel 7a (available on Amazon), with potential improvements in specifications. However, its success will hinge on its pricing, as some may find the enhanced features compelling, while others may prioritize affordability.
