Mobile GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is essentially on par with the mobile GeForce RTX 2060 in 3DMark benchmarks

The first GeForce GTX 1650 and GTX 1660 Ti laptops are shipping this month and we already have some 3DMark results based on early test samples. Users can expect a GTX 1660 Ti laptop to perform just 2 to 5 percent behind an RTX 2060 laptop. When considering that an RTX 2060 laptop is more expensive than a GTX 1660 Ti laptop by $200 or greater, the new budget-oriented Turing card will offer an even more attractive performance-per-Watt for gamers on tighter budgets.

Potential buyers considering the cheaper GTX 1650 may want to consider the GTX 1660 Ti instead as the latter offers a significant 60 percent performance boost over the former. This delta is greater than the delta between the last generation GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti when running DX11 titles. Users still rocking a budget GTX 1050 gaming laptop will see immense performance gains of over 200 percent if upgrading to a new GTX 1660 Ti laptop.

Of course, a "proper" desktop RTX 2060 is much faster than the mobile RTX 2060 and so it still handily outperforms the mobile GTX 1660 Ti. The new budget Turing GPU performs about 25 percent slower than our reference RTX 2060 desktop PC. If ray-tracing and DLSS are must have features for you, then an RTX 2060 laptop may still be more desirable over the GTX 16 series.

Early GTX 1660 Ti laptops include the Asus TUF 505 and the Asus GA502DU each retailing for $1100 USD. In contrast, the least expensive RTX 2060 laptops will cost users $1300 at retail. Expect more reviews on the new GTX 1650, GTX 1650 Max-Q, GTX 1660 Ti, and GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q in the coming weeks to months.
