MagicX has announced preliminary details for two new retro gaming handhelds. Both rivals to the Retroid Pocket 2S, the MagicX Two Dream Light and Two Dream Pro will be relatively affordable options too despite their 1080p and 4.5-inch displays.

Months have passed since we last heard from MagicX. While Anbernic and Ayaneo have new retro handhelds on the way, the One 35 remains the last device that MagicX released after the Zero 40 before it (curr. $81.99 on Amazon). However, the company has the One Retro 45, One Flip 50 and Two DS 46 in development.

Now, MagicX has confirmed the imminent arrival of two new handhelds. At this stage, it is unclear whether the company plans to release the One Retro 45One Flip 50 and Two DS 46 first. While we await more details about those three handhelds, MagicX has outlined initial information about the Two Dream Light and Two Dream Pro.

By the looks of things, both will serve as alternatives to the popular Retroid Pocket 2S with their horizontal layouts and 4.5-inch displays. As the image below shows, these displays output at 1,080 x 1,440 pixels with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Additionally, the pair feature Hall effect joysticks and plastic housings.

Currently, MagicX expects to distinguish Light and Pro models with different MediaTek chipsets. From what the company has revealed so far, it seems that the Light may feature the Dimensity 7050. By contrast, the Pro may well leverage the more powerful Dimensity 7350 that scores 10% better in our benchmarks. Seemingly, MagicX intends to offer the Lite for less than $99, with the Pro coming in at only slightly more. Release dates remain unknown for now, though.
