Ayaneo Pocket S Mini buyers to receive free handheld after production error

The Ayaneo Pocket S Mini is a compact Android-based gaming handheld that is supposedly ideal for playing retro games thanks to a Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 and a 4.2-inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The gaming handheld retails for $319 at Ayaneo’s official online store and was advertised with a 6,000mAh battery.
As Ayaneo has now confirmed, the handheld will instead ship with a 4,700mAh battery. This is apparently a manufacturing flaw, since early prototypes were equipped with a 4,700mAh battery and, which has not been replaced with the planned 6,000mAh battery pack for the final retail version of the gaming handheld. Correcting this mistake after the fact would reportedly push the delivery date back by several months.

Anyone who has already ordered the Ayaneo Pocket S Mini can cancel their order and request a full refund. Alternatively, Ayaneo is offering customers compensation in the form of a free Ayaneo Pocket Air Mini. This is a gaming handheld that normally costs $89.99 and, like the Pocket S Mini, is based on Android and sports a 4.2-inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. However, this model is significantly less powerful and is powered by a MediaTek Helio G90T.
With this compensation, Ayaneo wants to follow through on its promised customer service improvements. After customers have complained about slow support response times and delayed deliveries, Ayaneo intends to offer better quality control and customer support going forward. However, shipping a handheld without the advertised specs does not reflect well on quality control.
