Early details about a new QD-OLED gaming monitor have been shared online. Reportedly arriving next month, the MSI MPG 341CQPX is said to be one of the first monitors with a Samsung Display 'Gen 2.5' QD-OLED panel that offers various improvements over the MAG 341CQP QD-OLED, not least a 240 Hz refresh rate.

MSI has only recently released the MAG 341CQP QD-OLED, which it sells for $829.99 in the US and £998.99 in the UK. Nonetheless, the company is already preparing to deliver a follow-up of sorts by the name of the MPG 341CQPX. Although MSI markets the MAG 341CQP QD-OLED as featuring a 'next-generation QD-OLED' panel, it actually uses a Samsung Display Gen 1 panel that outputs at 3,440 x 1,440 (1440p) and 175 Hz.

By contrast, MSI's equally new MPG 271QRX QD-OLED and MPG 321URX QD-OLED rely upon later Samsung Display Gen 3 panels. According to TFTCentral, the MPG 341CQPX will adopt a new QD-OLED panel dubbed 'Gen 2.5'. Bringing across innovations of Samsung Display's existing Gen 2 QD-OLED panel, Gen 2.5 is rumoured to feature an updated pixel layout and HyperEfficient EL. With that being said, Gen 2.5 will lack Pico Inkjet or Quantum Enhancer technologies that ship within Gen 3 QD-OLED options.

Supposedly, this will allow the MPG 341CQPX to reach 240 Hz while maintaining a 1440p native resolution and a 34-inch panel size. Furthermore, the monitor is expected to offer 250 nits SDR and 1,000 nits HDR peak brightnesses, as well as DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1 and USB Type-C ports. Ultimately, it seems that the MPG 341CQPX will share the same panel as the AORUS MO34WQC, which Gigabyte showcased in January during CES 2024.

Currently, TFTCentral states that MSI will release the MPG 341CQPX 'in late April'. The website adds that the monitor will debut for $1,099.99 in the US, £1,099 in the UK and €1,399 in the Eurozone. Unfortunately, MSI has not officially commented on the MPG 341CQPX yet in any capacity.
