An Amazfit Band 6 device has been spotted getting its FCC certification, which is something of a surprise considering the Amazfit Band 5 from Huami only recently went by the same agency too. It could be possible that "Amazfit Band 6" might be the US market name for the widely rumored Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5 Pro wearable.

An Amazfit Band 6 device has been spotted getting its FCC certification surprisingly soon after the Amazfit Band 5 was also discovered visiting the same authority. It could be that Huami is planning on global domination of the activity tracker/wearables market thanks to its involvement with Xiaomi’s highly successful Mi Band range and for its own Amazfit-branded range of smart bands and smartwatches. However, there could be a very simple reason for the Amazfit Band 5 and Amazfit Band 6 to show up like this.

As has been pointed out by Gadgets & Wearables, the currently known Amazfit Band 5 specifications that we recently reported about are identical to what the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 can offer: A water-resistant AMOLED, 125-mAh battery, a heart-rate monitor, etc. It’s even believed to look like the Mi Band 5, which has just been released outside of China as the Mi Smart Band 5. It seems possible then that the Mi Smart Band 5 could be rebranded as the Amazfit Band 5 for the US market, as Amazfit is a known brand in the USA.

So if the Amazfit Band 5 is basically the Mi Smart Band 5, then what is the Amazfit Band 6 and why is it coming out hot on the heels of its predecessor? The logical explanation seems to be that the Amazfit Band 6 will be the still unconfirmed Mi Smart Band 5 Pro, bringing extra tech goodies like an SpO2 monitor, NFC functionality, and virtual assistant integration to its wearers. The fact that the Huami Amazfit Band 6 has actually just turned up at the FCC may have indirectly confirmed the existence of the rumored Pro variant of the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5.

Current documentation for the Amazfit Band 6 reveals almost next to nothing about the device, apart from some official marks and a model number A2005. However, appearing at the FCC so shortly after the Amazfit Band 5 does lend weight to the likelihood that these two wearables are basically the "Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5 Pro" and Mi Smart Band 5 in disguise for the US market.
