The entire foldable world is more or less circling around one topic: Who has the thinnest smartphone? But one company refuses to play along in the game of nanometers, namely Google. This year's Pixel 10 Pro Fold is stubbornly going in a completely different direction, as though duel between the Honor Magic V5 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 didn't even exist, this. At 10.8 mm, the new Google foldable is slightly thicker when folded, but it does offer one useful upgrade: IP68 certification.
As the world's first foldable phone, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold promises to be just as dust and water resistant as traditional smartphones, so a visit to the beach or a construction site is unlikely to affect Google's foldable flagship. This is a major upgrade compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which only repels dirt particles at least 1 mm in size in accordance with IP48. The Honor Magic V5 and the Vivo X Fold 5 fall right in between with IP58 ratings. Google is yet to officially confirm this certification of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, but the contents of an official Google data sheet now confirm it once again.
Otherwise, the spec sheet (see below) reads very similarly to the one from 2024. In addition to the Tensor G5, the cameras also feature an upgrade. While the hardware itself remains unchanged, the 5x telephoto camera will apparently also offer "10x optical zoom". We suspect this refers to a sensor crop and/or Google's Super Res Zoom feature, as the telephoto lens remains at 5x zoom. Also worth mentioning is the battery capacity, which has increased from 4,650 mAh to 5,015 mAh with 30W fast charging, plus magnetic 15W Qi2 charging under the name "Pixelsnap". Unlike the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will probably not be available until much later, and the price is likely to remain the same as last year.
