CMF Phone: Nothing sub-brand linked to launch of first-ever smartphone in new leak
CMF by Nothing is, as the name might suggest, a spin-off from Carl Pei's current main brand with a focus on the visual-, tactile- and build-related experience of its products. They have been of a peripheral nature thus far (one of its first products was a cost-effective smartwatch, for example); however, it is now allegedly working on something that could be the center of its growing ecosystem.
It could be called the CMF Phone (1) or CMF Phone 1 on its launch, according to the section of Reddit devoted to Nothing and all it does these days. The new rumor is based on the discovery of a new device called the A015 from the sub-brand that is, unlike its previous products, now certified as a "Mobile Phone" by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) ahead of its launch.
The first-gen "CMF Phone" is said to have a ~6.5-inch display driven by a MediaTek Dimensity chipset with a 5,000mAh battery that charges at 33W- although that might be based on speculation that it will debut as a more compact, even more affordable alternative to the Nothing Phone (2a). It is tipped to use Nothing OS as its skin for Android, just like its more transparent cousins.
To that end, it has also been rendered as a single rear camera device with a plastic rear panel finished in CMF by Nothing orange and with the same non-verbal logo symbolizing the meaning of the brand's name (Color, Material, Finish) as featured on its Buds.
Finally, the "CMF Phone (1)" is believed to launch in India at a starting price of ~INR 12,000 (~$144) - which, again, is mainly based on the fact that the Phone (2a) can be found for about 2x that price on Amazon.in.
