Asus has updated the ROG NUC platform, which it debuted last year with Intel Meteor Lake processors and Nvidia RTX 40 laptop series GPUs. To recap, the original ROG NUC cut a fine figure when we reviewed it with a Core Ultra 9 185H and a GeForce RTX 4070 (curr. $2,299 on Amazon).
However, the ROG NUC (2025) should provide performance improvements across the board thanks to the inclusion of newer Arrow Lake-HX processors and RTX 50 laptop series GPUs. Although Asus is being rather vague currently by only committing to Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 9 processors, it has specified that the GeForce RTX 5080 will be powering the ROG NUC (2025) with 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM.
Additionally, the new ROG NUC supports up to 96 GB of DDR5-6400 RAM and has a pair of M.2 2280 slots for PCIe Gen 4 SSDs. Moreover, the mini-PC provides Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, as well as the following ports:
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x DC power input
- 2x DisplayPort 2.1
- 2x HDMI 2.1 (FRL)
- 1x Kensington lock slot
- 1x Thunderbolt 4 (DisplayPort 2.1)
- 1x RJ45
- 6x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gbps)
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C
Added to that, Asus has crammed all this hardware in a redesigned housing that measures 282.4 x 187.7 x 56.5 mm and weighs 3.12 kg. Furthermore, the mini-PC contains three fans, including one dedicated to its CPU. Unfortunately, Asus has not commented on pricing or availability yet.
