The Apple iPhone 17 Air is effectively positioned as the successor to the iPhone 16 Plus and is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro in September. The thinnest iPhone to date has already been seen in hands-on videos, but the new dummy in the video embedded below by @MajinBuOfficial is said to more accurately reflect the final look of the smartphone. This is because the dummy takes into account the materials from which the display, frame, and back are to be made.
Compared to the iPhone 16 Plus, Apple is making two main design changes. Firstly, the smartphone will be significantly thinner – rumors speak of just 5.5 millimeters, which may even surpass the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. Secondly, the camera module will grow to almost the entire width of the smartphone, although Apple is only installing the 48-MP main camera and has eliminated the ultra-wide-angle camera altogether. This will allow Apple to create a little more space in the very slim case.
According to earlier rumors, the iPhone 17 Air's specs are largely identical to those of the iPhone 17, including the Apple A19 ARM chip, 8 GB of RAM, a 24-MP selfie camera, an aluminum frame and MagSafe. However, the iPhone 17 Air reportedly has a much smaller battery with a capacity of only around 3,000 mAh, as well as a larger 6.6-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and support for Apple's always-on display.
