While we have now moved into the summer, Apple is unlikely to unveil any new smartphones either this month or in August. Instead, Google is anticipated to replace the Pixel 9 series on August 20 before commencing shipments of Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold by August 28.
According to Mark Gurman, Apple will not be far behind with the release of the iPhone 17 series. For the time being, the analyst has not provided a specific launch date yet. However, one can infer one of three dates from information contained in Gurman's latest Power On newsletter.
According to Gurman, Apple will host its iPhone 17 event the week starting September 8. In the past, the company has tended to schedule these kind of events during the first half of the week. Added to that, September 11 falls on a Thursday this year.
Therefore, we are left with September 8, 9 or 10 as the possible days for Apple's annual iPhone event. Based on current expectations, Apple plans to use this year's event to unveil the first 'Air' branded iPhone as an alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge (curr. $919.99 on Amazon). New Apple Watch releases should also be in store, although refreshed iPads and MacBooks are slated to arrive later.
