Actually, yesterday's Q&A session by Bloomberg's chief analyst on Apple was mainly about the project Titan, which has now been discontinued, but some details about the future MacBook were also mentioned in passing. In response to an editor's question about Mark's first Apple product, there was a surprisingly detailed answer, indicating that Apple had just started development of a MacBook Pro based on the Apple M4.
What was your first Apple product?
My first Apple product was a blue iPod mini around 2004-2005. My first Mac was an iBook G4. Today, I use an M1 Max MacBook Pro 16-inch. I've seen no reason to upgrade to the M2 or M3 Max. But maybe I will snap up an M4 MacBook Pro, which by the way, just started formal development.
Apple M4 launch probably not until early 2025
If you look at the Apple M series history, there have always been around 1.5 years between generations, starting with the Apple M1 in November 2020, continuing with the Apple M2 in June 2022, and finally reaching the current status with the Apple M3 in October 2023.
It would therefore be logical for a Apple M4 MacBook Pro not to be launched until spring 2025, although it is, of course, possible that Apple will reduce the release schedule to one year in the future, as with the A-series chips in the iPhones. A successor to the Apple M3 Pro MacBook Pro (14-inch version is available at Amazon) could be available as early as the end of 2024.
