Apple revealed the 2024 MacBook Air 13 and MacBook Air 15 with the latest M3 chip earlier this month. The smaller 13-inch model which comes with the base M3 processor with an 8-core GPU, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage normally starts at $1,099. You can now pick it up for only $999 on Amazon.

The 2024 MacBook Air 13 features the same chassis as the MacBook Air M2 (Available on Amazon). This means the laptop retains the superb build quality and average port selection with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, one 3.5 mm jack, and a MagSafe connector. However, the Midnight colorway has gotten a new finish aimed at protecting against unsightly fingerprints.

Display-wise, the MacBook Air 13 M3 rocks a 13.3-inch 60 Hz Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2560 x 1664. Our testing showed that the panel produces slightly above 500 nits of brightness on average, covers 98.4% of the DCI-P3 gamut, and offers a contrast ratio of 1,250:1. Coupled with factory calibration, the MacBook Air 13’s panel is suitable for all workloads.

Furthermore, the MacBook Air 13 (2024) is noticeably faster than its predecessor thanks to the 3 nm M3 chip. Our analyses found the chip to deliver around a 20% multi-core and single-core performance bump over the M2. Thankfully, Apple has rectified the slow base SSD of the M2 model as the new MacBook Air 13 comes with a much faster 256 GB drive.
