Acer launches new compact desktop PC globally with 128 GB RAM and Nvidia RTX Spark
IFAEarlier this week, Asus detailed the ProArt GR1X to rival Apple's latest Mac Studio (curr. $2,499 on Amazon). Now, Acer has responded in kind with a compact desktop of its own. For the time being, the company refers to the device as both the SFF RTX Spark and the RTX Spark.
As its name suggests, the SFF RTX Spark utilises Nvidia's RTX Spark Superchip rather than comparable AMD Strix Halo or Gorgon Halo alternatives. Like the ProArt GR1X, the SFF RTX Spark will be available with the 20-core version of the RTX Spark Superchip and its 6,144 CUDA-core iGPU. Acer also indicates that RTX Spark chipsets are coming too, possibly the 18-core version that surfaced last month in leaked benchmark results.
For reference, the 20-core version of the RTX Spark Superchip contains around 4% more CUDA cores than a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPU. Conversely, Nvidia's fastest RTX Spark chipset falls 25% behind the GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU. Setting CUDA core volumes aside, the SFF RTX Spark will contain up to 128 GB of unified memory. Again, Acer has not confirmed whether other memory configurations will also be available.
Unfortunately, Acer has not confirmed any other details at this stage. For instance, pricing and availability remain unknown. However, the company's promotional images confirm the inclusion of single HDMI and RJ45 Ethernet connections, as well as four USB Type-C ports. The latter power the SFF RTX Spark, mirroring the ProArt P14 and ProArt P16 that Asus detailed earlier this week too.
