Abxylute has unveiled its upcoming S8 wireless mobile game controller for the Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 consoles, and Android and Apple mobile devices. The grips are designed with comfort in mind, says the company, with a curved body similar to game console controllers. The controller stretches up to 216 mm (8.5 in.) wide to accommodate large phones and small tablets.
The S8 features Hall-effect joysticks, a six-axis gyroscope, and vibration motors. The large joysticks have adjustable square or round input modes to help limit mistaken inputs, and adjustable dead zones. They also use anti-wear rings to provide continued smooth operation, according to Abxylute. The vibration feel is modeled after Xbox controllers and uses asymmetric motors. Two buttons behind the grips are programmable with combo macros.
Users can map touchscreen controls of native mobile games to the physical buttons and sticks on the S8, and the Abxy Game app comes with a library of profiles for some popular mobile games, according to the company. The Abxylute wireless mobile controller also supports streaming and emulated console gaming on Apple and Android devices, such as Xbox Remote Play.
The Abxylute S8 has an MSRP of $99 and is currently available for preorder at a discounted price of $59 from the company's website. A bundle with a case is also available for preorder at a discounted price of $79. A release date and other specifications have not been announced.
Gamers who want a similar controller for tablets and phones with no wireless lag might consider the Abxylute S9 USB-C and BT game controller (on sale here on Amazon).
