Verdict - Neo 16 A25 is the fastest gaming laptop with the 9955HX3D
The new XMG Neo 16 A25 is also available with an AMD processor for the first time this year, including the new Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with 3D V-Cache. As with the old Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, gaming performance in some games benefits noticeably from the additional cache. As we demonstrated in our analysis of the 9955HX3D, the advantage over the standard Ryzen 9 9955HX is not particularly significant, especially at QHD resolution, and the €215 surcharge is only worthwhile to a limited extent. However, if you want to use the fastest gamer, you've come to the right place.
In terms of equipment, there is a difference between the AMD and Intel model of the Neo 16. The AMD model is currently only available with 96 GB of RAM, and it also lacks Thunderbolt and USB 4.0 support. In addition, the Intel model can now be ordered with a Wi-Fi 7 module. The Intel model also has a clear advantage in terms of battery life.
The new mini LED panel earns our recommendation for the display, and the €175 surcharge is definitely justified. However, the problem with graphics switching still exists with all models of the Neo 16, as Advanced Optimus is not currently supported. XMG informs customers on its official homepage and is currently in contact with Nvidia to resolve the issue. However, there is currently no guarantee that the feature will be implemented.
Pros
Cons
The Neo 16 with an AMD CPU shares many similarities with the Neo 16 E25 (Intel), which we recently tested. Comprehensive information on the case, the features, the new mini LED panel, and the optional Oasis water cooling can be found in our review of the Neo 16 E25.

This is how Notebookcheck is testing
Every year, Notebookcheck independently reviews hundreds of laptops and smartphones using standardized procedures to ensure that all results are comparable. We have continuously developed our test methods for around 20 years and set industry standards in the process. In our test labs, high-quality measuring equipment is utilized by experienced technicians and editors. These tests involve a multi-stage validation process. Our complex rating system is based on hundreds of well-founded measurements and benchmarks, which maintains objectivity. Further information on our test methods can be found here.
