Laptops powered by Nvidia's Ada RTX 40 Laptop GPUs have started to become available, presently with flagship GPUs like the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. We have data from three such devices — the MSI Titan GT77 HX 13V and the Schenker XMG Neo 16 both featuring the RTX 4090 and the Razer Blade 16 with the RTX 4080 — and evaluate how Nvidia's latest mobile offerings perform in comparison with other desktop and mobile brethren.

The Neo 16 is currently one of the most powerful laptops: Core i9 14900HX and GeForce RTX 4090 prepare the computer for gaming, streaming and rendering. An optional, external water cooling system squeezes every last drop from the hardware.

After a slight delay, Nvidia finally launches the new GeForce RTX 5000 Laptop GPUs and starts with the high-end model RTX 5090 Laptop. We were able to analyze the performance of the new GPU in combination with the Razer Blade 16 and check who should upgrade. Update: 175W versions of the RTX 5090 Laptop & 5080 Laptop in the XMG Neo 16 A25 show the full performance potential
The XMG Neo 16 2025 is now also available with an AMD processor and a mini LED panel. The fast 175-watt RTX 5080/5090 laptop GPUs are also used. We received two engineering samples, providing us a preview before conducting the full test.

The Neo 16 is traditionally the fastest gaming laptop from XMG, and the 2025 model too comes with a matte, 300 Hz mini LED display in addition to the HX CPUs from AMD/Intel and new Blackwell GPUs. However, its high performance is offset by a few connectivity blemishes.

XMG is also offering its high-end gaming laptop with AMD processors this year. We are testing the Neo 16 A25, equipped with the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor, GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card, and a 300 Hz mini LED panel. Is it enough to claim the gaming crown?

Intel Raptor Lake-HX:
i9-13900HX: Mobile CPU based on the Raptor Lake series that offers 24 cores (8 performance, 16 efficiency cores) with a Boost core of up to 5.8 GHz for the P-cores. Similar to the Desktop i9-13900K but with reduced clock speeds and TDP.
i9-14900HX: High-end mobile hybrid processor based on the Raptor Lake architecture with 24 cores and 32 threads. Clocks at a maximum of 5.8 GHz (P cores).
AMD Dragon Range (Zen 4, Ryzen 7X4X/8X4X):
R9 9955HX: High-end mobile 16-core processor with 32 threads and large 64 MB L3 cache. Very fast, especially for games. Uses the new Zen 5 architecture.
R9 9955HX3D: High-end mobile 16-core processor with 32 threads and large 128 MB L3 cache (64 MB additional 3D V-cache with a CCD). Very fast, especially for games. Uses the new Zen 5 architecture.
Intel Arrow Lake:
Ultra 9 275HX: Mobile high-end CPU for gaming notebooks based on the Arrow Lake architecture. Offers 24 cores consisting of 8 fast performance cores with up to 5.4 GHz and 16 smaller efficiency cores with up to 4.6 GHz clock speed. The CPU can access 40 MB L2 cache and 36 MB L3 cache and is specified with a TDP of 55 watts. The SoC integrates a small dedicated NPU called AI Boost with 13 TOPS (Int8) and optionally supports vPro Essentials.

16.00:
This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.52 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
2.855 kg:
82.82%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
