With few exceptions, the smartphones with the fastest wireless charging on the market are rated to do so at up to 50 watts (W) to date. However, the next generation of premium Android devices are now slated to go beyond this typical limit in 2024, with some adopting a "Pro" standard that might allow them to charge cable-free in 46 minutes or less.

Currently, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra stands out as a globally-available premium smartphone for a number of reasons, not the least of which is its support for up-to-80W wireless charging. However, the feature - which currently requires a custom branded stand - is projected to become more commonplace very soon.

The eminent leaker Digital Chat Station asserts that, while 50W wireless charging is great and all, it is about to become overshadowed by a 66W successor, with 80W and "80W Pro" upgrades to follow.

Given that the tipster has called the 50W spec out by name, it is possible the new leak pertains heavily to those brands under the BBK Electronics umbrella, which markets the blazing-fast wireless charging spec under names such as AirVOOC.

Accordingly, the most likely candidate for its rumored successor might well include the already-intriguing hypothetical OnePlus 13, not to mention the OPPO Find X8 Ultra and next-gen Vivo X-series devices, not to mention a oneday successor to the X Fold3 Pro, a foldable smartphone already predicted to launch with 50W wireless charging itself soon.

On that note, the 3 Pro might find it is not left behind after all, with different accessory OEMs also now slated to have new chargers that combine its high-end spec with a MagSafe-like feature ready to go soon.

In the meantime, grab the ESR in-car wireless charger with Qi2 on Amazon.
