Razer Moray unleashed as "all-day" in-ear monitors for pro gamers
Razer asserts that the 3.5mm jack still has a place in gaming or streaming: at the other end of its new IEMs. The Moray is touted as more than the average set of wired buds with an "ergonomic low-profile" build that has a "natural, comfortable fit" in the human ear canal compared to most conventional ear-tips.
The IEMs' shape is also backed to limit user fatigue, as is the "THX Certified" sound (that covers a 20–24,000Hz response range with a sensitivity of 106 decibels (dB)) they are rated to emit. This audio comes courtesy of a "hybrid" combination of balanced armature- and dynamic-type drivers intended to optimize treble and bass respectively.
The Moray buds are connected to detachable OFC MMCX wires, coated in a braided material that also has "memory" properties to mold themselves around the user's ear as they curve around them from above to complete the IEM form-factor. This selling point is compounded by the provision of both memory foam and silicone ear-tips in 3 sizes each.
Accordingly, the user will still sacrifice typical fancy wireless features such as ANC for potentially prolonged streaming or gaming. Nevertheless, Razer estimates that the Morays' passive noise isolation will still work to block unwanted sonic interruptions to the tune of -36dB.
The Razer Moray IEMs are already available via razer.com or Amazon for US$129.99.
