MINISFORUM showcases new Neptune MBG6 mini-PC

MINISFORUM has introduced the Neptune MBG6, adding to the numerous amount of mini-PCs that the company has announced in the last few months. Typically, MINISFORUM mini-PCs rely on laptop-grade processors, such as the UM773 Lite and its AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS APU. However, the Neptune MBG6 utilises the Ryzen 7 5700X, a 65 W part from AMD's Vermeer series.

It remains to be seen whether the Ryzen 7 5700X will offer any performance improvements over its 45 W counterparts like the Ryzen 9 6900HX in the Venus UM690. The Ryzen 7 5700X lacks integrated graphics though, unlike AMD's laptop APU portfolio. Hence, it can dedicate all its 65 W TDP to CPU tasks. MINISFORUM will complement the Ryzen 7 5700X with the Radeon RX 6600M, a Navi 23-based GPU with 28 Compute Units (CUs), 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM and a 50-100 W TDP.

According to our database, the Radeon RX 6600M offers 2.72x the performance of the Radeon 680M found in many Radeon 6000 series APUs like the Ryzen 9 6900HX. MINISFORUM has not announced pricing and availability yet other than a vague commitment to launching the Neptune MBG6 in March. Please see the company's YouTube video for more details.
