Xiaomi targets Apple: Oppo Find X10, Vivo X500 and Xiaomi 18 Pro (Fold) launch windows tipped
Following the Ultra camera flagships from China, the new next-generation base and Pro models usually launch at the end of the summer. Last year, Vivo and Oppo also rushed ahead with global launches of the X300 and Find X9 series in October of 2025, while Xiaomi still waited with their global launch event until February 2026. This year, Xiaomi is expected to follow suit and bring the next Leica camera phone to global markets like India much earlier. As for the China launch, it’s becoming increasingly clear when the Vivo X500, the Oppo Find X10, and the Xiaomi 18 flagships will be unveiled for the first time.
Two aspects in particular stand out in the latest hints from Digital Chat Station on Weibo (1, 2). First, the MediaTek camp (Oppo, Vivo) appears to be aiming to potentially beat Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 launch event on September 22, 2026, with the launch of the 2nm Dimensity 9600. According to the leaker, the Dimensity 9600 will be unveiled as early as mid-September, which could potentially pave the way for the launch of the Vivo X500 Pro and Oppo Find X10 Pro—a launch that will apparently take place towards the end of September but before the Qualcomm Summit, possibly before September 22.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 vs. Apple iPhone Ultra
The second aspect is about Xiaomi's plans in particular. They apparently plan to directly counter the iPhone Ultra launch in early September by pitting the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 against Apple’s first foldable phone. According to Digital Chat Station, there will be two Xiaomi launch events in September: the foldable phone, potentially named the Xiaomi 18 Fold, will come first, as it will likely debut the company’s in-house Xring O3 chip rather than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. As recently verified by a leaked hands-on image, the format of the Xiaomi foldable is changing to look a bit more like the iPhone Fold, though it is unlikely to be available globally. The Xiaomi 18 series will then follow towards the end of September, presumably in parallel with the Snapdragon Summit or shortly after.
