Early reviews of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 show its initially subtle display crease becoming more pronounced after a week of regular use. Testers say the change does not affect performance, but it does challenge claims that the foldable is "crease-free."

Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been marketed with big promises about its "Flex Titanium" feature, a series of slim titanium bars designed to reinforce the hinge area and minimize the crease that has long plagued foldables. In initial comparisons shortly after launch, the display looked remarkably flat next to rivals like the Oppo Find N6 and Vivo X Fold 6, with some praising it to be "nearly crease-free" and even claiming that it has "self-healing" properties.

However, some early testers have a different opinion. After almost one week of regular use, both @GadgetsBoy and @nieantyfan noticed the crease becoming visibly more pronounced on both the standard and Ultra models. Experts attribute this to mechanical fatigue, as the display layers gradually lose their factory tension and settle into the hinge cavity, a phenomenon known as plastic deformation. Notably, the Oppo Find N6 appears to retain its flatter profile better over the same amount of time.

Despite the crease returning, testers note that the phone remains functionally excellent, with the visual change more noticeable under glare than by touch. Hence, it may not be so much of an issue than one might fear, but it does call into question the "crease-free" claim touted by some. Either way, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series is set to launch globally on August 7 for around $1,899.
