Xiaomi opens pre-orders for new Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro tablets

Xiaomi has opened pre-orders for its Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro tablets in China. The two models join the larger Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max, which Xiaomi launched last week as the top-end model in the series.
The Pad 9 comes with an 11.2-inch 3.2K LCD, while the Pad 9 Pro has a larger 12.5-inch display. Both panels support a 144Hz refresh rate, with the Pro reaching up to 1,000 nits and the Pad 9 rated at up to 800 nits.
Xiaomi uses different Snapdragon processors in the two models. The Pad 9 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, while the Pad 9 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.
Battery capacity also differs between the two tablets. The Pad 9 has a 9,720mAh battery, while the Pro packs an 11,000mAh unit. Xiaomi claims up to 14.5 hours of short-video playback and up to 20 hours of online meetings. The Pad 9 supports 45W charging, while the Pro supports 67W charging.
The Pad 9 measures 5.75mm (0.23 inches) thick and weighs 485g (1.07lb). The Pad 9 Pro is slightly thicker at 5.8mm (0.23 inches) and weighs 494g (1.09lb).
Both tablets run HyperOS 4. Xiaomi is also promoting them for productivity, with support for WPS for Pad, CapCut Pro, Pixel Cake, ZWCAD and CAJ Reader. Other software features include Super Xiao Ai 2.0, an AI office suite, Inspiration Ball and cross-platform task execution.
The Pad 9 is available with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the Pad 9 Pro comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Both models start with an 8GB/128GB configuration, and Soft Light display versions are also available.
The Pad 9 comes in Ice Peach Pink, Spruce Green, Black and Silver. The Pro is offered in Spruce Green, Black and Silver.
Pricing and availability
Pre-orders for the Xiaomi Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro are now open on JD.com. The Pad 9 starts at ¥2,999 ($447) for the 8GB/128GB version, while the Pad 9 Pro starts at ¥3,799 ($566) with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The Pad 9 is also available in 8GB/256GB, 8GB/256GB Soft Light and 12GB/256GB configurations. These configurations are priced at ¥3,299 ($492), ¥3,499 ($522) and ¥3,799 ($566), respectively.
The Pad 9 Pro is offered in 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB Soft Light and 16GB/256GB versions for ¥4,099 ($611), ¥4,599 ($686), ¥4,799 ($715) and ¥4,999 ($745), respectively.
Xiaomi has not yet announced international availability or pricing for either tablet.
