Xiaomi Redmi K70 Pro to showcase new 4,000 nit display and new Light Hunter camera before POCO F6 Pro release
Xiaomi has revealed various tidbits about the Redmi K70 series so far, including the Redmi K70 Pro's design and some of its camera improvements from the Redmi K60 Pro. For reference, the Redmi K70 Pro is expected to be available globally as the POCO F6 Pro, albeit not until early next year. Now, it has outlined several other changes from last year's model, screenshots of which we have embedded below. Incidentally, hands-on images of the Redmi K70 Pro and Redmi K70 recently surfaced online, details of which we have covered separately.
On the one hand, the Redmi K70 Pro will feature the Light Hunter 800, a new camera sensor that will work with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3's image signal processor (ISP). Also, Xiaomi has integrated 'Night Owl', a self-developed algorithm designed to reduce image noise and improve colour reproduction in low light conditions. Based on the sensor's model number, it is a lesser alternative to the Light Hunter 900 used in the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. The specifications revealed so far underline this, with Xiaomi mentioning a 1/1.55-inch optical format compared to 1/1.31-inches for the Light Hunter 900.
On the other hand, Xiaomi boasts that the Redmi K70 Pro will have the first smartphone display capable of reaching 4,000 nits. While this claim has not been independently verified yet, Xiaomi has confirmed that the underlying panel in question is the TCL C8, which it already uses in the Xiaomi 14 series. Supposedly the display outputs at 2K too, with a 3,840 Hz PWM frequency on hand to help achieve an 'epoch-making eye protection solution'. Xiaomi will present the Redmi K70 Pro on November 29 alongside various other Redmi products, including a new laptop and smartwatch.
