Vivo X500 officially launches with Zeiss cameras and 144Hz AMOLED display

Vivo has officially introduced the Vivo X500 series in China. It is a flagship lineup of camera-focused smartphones with Zeiss tuning, comprising the Vivo X500, the X500 Pro, and the X500 Pro Max.

Vivo X500 specifications

The phone sports a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,750 x 1,260 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. Unlike the Pro models that use the Dimensity 9600 Pro, the X500 is powered by the Dimensity 9600M. It is a 3nm chipset with an eight-core CPU and an Arm G1-Ultra GPU. Vivo pairs it with 12GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.

The X500 offers a triple rear camera setup. The 50MP Sony LYT-828 primary camera features a 1/1.28-inch sensor size, an f/1.68 aperture, and OIS. It is joined by a 64MP Sony LYT-610 telephoto camera offering a 72mm-equivalent focal length and OIS. Additionally, there is a 50MP ultrawide camera with a 15mm-equivalent focal length. On the front, it has a 50MP camera for selfies and video calls.

Vivo also offers the optional Vivo Zeiss Telephoto Extender G2, which provides a 200mm-equivalent shooting option when used with the telephoto camera. Another accessory, the Vivo Snap Screen, is a 3.92-inch wireless display that can preview the phone’s rear-camera feed and control certain camera functions from up to 10 metres away.

The Vivo X500 packs a 7,500mAh battery supporting 90W wired and 40W wireless charging. For comparison, the Vivo X300 (16GB/256GB curr. $731.51 on TradingShenzhen) featured a 6,040mAh battery.

The Vivo X500 comes in white, pink, black, and gray finishes. It measures 8.15mm thick and weighs either 211g or 213g, depending on the color.

Additional notable features include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB 3.2, and IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance. In terms of software, the phone ships with OriginOS 7 based on Android 17.

Vivo X500 pricing

The Vivo X500 starts at CNY 5,499 (~$821) for the 12GB/256GB configuration. The 12GB/512GB and 12GB/1TB options cost CNY 5,999 (~$895) and CNY 6,999 (~$1,044), respectively.

Vivo sells the Zeiss Telephoto Extender G2 for CNY 999 (~$149). Meanwhile, the Vivo Snap Screen and magnetic case bundle costs CNY 708 (~$106).
