Vivo launches budget phone with 8,000mAh battery, IP69 rating and 120Hz display

Following the launch of the Vivo X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max on September 21, the company has just launched its budget Y600i smartphone in China. The new handset pairs an 8,000mAh battery with a 120Hz display and carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The Y600i costs CNY 1,999 (about $300) and comes in a single configuration with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Buyers can choose from Stardust, Sky Blue and Midnight Black finishes. Sales in China begin on September 30. The phone joins the Y600 Turbo and Y600 Pro in Vivo’s Y-series lineup in China. Those two models carry larger batteries of 9,020mAh and 10,200mAh respectively.

The Y600i’s 8,000mAh cell supports 44W wired charging and wired reverse charging, which lets the phone top up other devices over a cable. vivo says its laboratory testing shows the battery keeps at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,500 charge cycles. The company also claims up to 25 hours of short-video playback and 16 hours of continuous navigation on a single charge.

A 6.87-inch LCD occupies the front of the device, with a resolution of 1592 x 720 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches 1,300 nits in high brightness mode and supports DC dimming. It also holds TÜV Rheinland certification for software-based low blue light protection.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 powers the phone, paired with LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage. A memory card slot expands storage by up to 2TB, while Vivo’s memory fusion technology can add up to 12GB of extended RAM. The Y600i ships with OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 and includes an AI-powered anti-fraud feature that identifies scam calls. On the back sits a 50MP camera with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus. An 8MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.

Beyond its IP68 and IP69 ratings, the Y600i has SGS five-star drop resistance certification. Other hardware includes a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor, dual-SIM 5G support, Bluetooth 5.1, a USB Type-C port and an infrared blaster for controlling home appliances.
