TrimUI has previewed its next gaming handheld release. A return to its popular Game Boy lookalike, the TrimUI Brick Pro should serve as a cheaper alternative to the Anbernic RG477V thanks to a larger display and a pair of built-in joysticks.

TrimUI has offered a few insights into its next gaming handheld release. To recap, the company introduced the Smart Pro S towards the end of last year (curr. $109.99 on Amazon). A reworked Smart Pro, the Smart Pro S surpassed its predecessor with an upgraded chipset, superior joysticks and an active cooling solution to prevent overheating.

Now, it seems that TrimUI is on the verge of pulling the same move with its Brick handheld. As a pre-launch leak indicated, TrimUI will distinguish its new Brick handheld from existing units by including a pair of joysticks beneath the handheld's d-pad and ABXY buttons. Not only that, but TrimUI has increased the Brick's display size from 3.2 inches to 4 inches for its new release.

At this stage, TrimUI only adds that it intends to release its new vertical handheld as the TrimUI Brick Pro. In the meantime, RetroDeadFred has shared a hands-on image detailing the Brick Pro before its official release. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether TrimUI will depart from the Allwinner A133P chipset and 1 GB of LPDDR3 RAM that it includes in existing Brick handhelds. Either way, we suspect that the TrimUI Brick Pro will shape up as a cheaper alternative to the Anbernic RG477V.
