AYN has announced that its Odin 2 handheld has reached its end of life and will no longer be available for purchase. However, it has revealed that the newer Odin 2 Portal will be available at a discount for a limited time.

AYN has announced that its popular handheld, the Odin 2, has reached its end of life and has thus been discontinued. Released in the second half of 2023, the Odin 2 received a successor last year in the form of the Odin 3.

According to an official post on its Discord channel, the Odin 2 is no longer available to purchase on the official AYN website. However, as of the time of writing, the device still appears on the website's frontpage, but leads to an error 404 page when you click on it.

AYN hasn't said if the discontinuation of the Odin 2 also means the handheld will no longer receive software support.

The AYN Odin 2 launched in 2023 with a 6-inch 1080p LCD panel, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor like the new Retroid Pocket 6, up to 16GB RAM, and up to 512GB of expandable storage. It also has an 8,000mAh battery capacity.

In addition to discontinuing the Odin 2, AYN has announced that it is running a limited time sale on the Odin 2 Portal released in 2024. The discount has already begun and will run until February 25 on the AYN website.

For the period of the sale, the Odin 2 Portal Base with 8GB RAM + 128GB which costs $329, will now sell for $249, while the Odin 2 Portal pro with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage will cost $369 instead of $399. The Max model with 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage will get a $50 discount that brings it down to $449.

The discount on the Odin 2 Portal puts it in direct competition with the Retroid Pocket 6 which starts at $229 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. While both handhelds have the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, the Odin 2 Portal has a larger 7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and 8,000mAh battery while the Pocket 6 has a smaller 5.5-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and a 6,000mAh battery.
