Half-Life 3 and Steam Machine followers will be watching a series of June showcases. Summer Game Fest 2026 host Geoff Keighley is again piquing their curiosity. His social media post depicting rising smoke is the latest pre-event hint noticed by Valve supporters.

Summer Game Fest 2026 host Geoff Keighley has made another mysterious social media post. Its rising smoke has attracted the attention of Valve fans anxious for Half-Life 3 or Steam Machine news. Past teasers ended in disappointment, but at least the mini PC may soon receive a release date update.

Will Valve skip the SGF again?

Starting on June 5th, companies like Sony and Microsoft should attend the next Summer Game Fest. Valve could also play a role, but it has tended to rely on its own marketing for announcements.

Journalist and presenter Keighley has a habit of raising expectations ahead of major gaming events. Leading up to the 2025 The Game Awards, the host shared a hidden wishlisted Steam selection. Of course, some readers assumed they would learn the Half-Life 3 release date or hear an update during the broadcast.

Perhaps more wishful thinking, he also posted a mysterious image of a statue in a desert. Instead of the sci-fi shooter, viewers discovered it foreshadowed a new Divinity entry.

The Steam Machine may surface without Half-Life 3

In recent months, leaks about progress on Valve’s project, codenamed HLX, have dried up. Still, in February, dataminers again found traces of the game in Deadlock code. Some gamers have speculated that it will serve as a launch title for the company’s console challenger.

Before a delay, Half-Life: Alyx was meant to accompany the Index VR headset in 2020. Half-Life 3 could demonstrate that the Steam Machine is capable of running AAA games with cutting-edge visuals. Yet, other insiders believe that the game and the mini PC are on separate schedules.

A June arrival is possible for the Linux system. Import records revealed that Valve recently accepted numerous shipments of a “Game Console.” There was another positive sign ahead of the Steam Controller debut. Programmer Pierre-Loup Griffais told fans that Steam Machine news would come “soon.”

Keighley’s smoky photo is likely one of many suggestive social media posts to come. Followers can tune in to the main Summer Game Fest livestream on June 5th at 5PM EST/11PM CEST.
