Steam Machine/Frame: Further hardware shipments spotted – and what they could mean

As an attentive Reddit user noticed, Valve received another shipment from China on May 20, 2026. This can be traced through publicly available import data from ImportGenius. The shipment was addressed to “CEVA NL c/o Valve Corporation” and delivered by China-based Tech-Front Chongqing Computer Co.
The container includes 42 packages with a total weight of around 12.5 tons. The goods description is particularly interesting: the shipment is listed as a “Game Console”. Reddit user u/mergey opened threads about the discovered import data in both the Steam Frame and Steam Machine subreddits. After all, the shipment could contain not only Valve’s living-room PC, but also the upcoming VR headset.
What the hardware shipments could mean
Since the contents of the packages cannot be verified, the significance of the hardware shipments remains speculative. The weight is particularly interesting: While previously spotted shipments usually weighed around 14.5 tons, the current shipment comes in at only 12.5 tons. This trend had apparently already become noticeable at the beginning of the month, suggesting that Valve may have changed something here. That does not necessarily point to a different product. Different packaging, new bundles or simply a smaller batch would also be conceivable. Nevertheless, the deviation is noticeable because the shipments otherwise appear fairly standardized.
Although there has been much discussion about a possible delay of the Steam Machine to 2027 due to the storage crisis, several recent signs suggest that Valve is preparing its new hardware. It is therefore quite possible that the shipment included Steam Machines. On the other hand, the Steam Frame is also expected for 2026 and was recently even tested by YouTuber VoodooDE. However, the Steam Deck could also be listed as a “Game Console” in the import data. It is therefore not entirely clear whether the latest imports are connected to the Steam Machine or Steam Frame at all.
The new data is not proof of an imminent launch, but it is at least another indication that Valve is pushing ahead with its hardware plans. Fans could soon hear more about the Steam Machine or Steam Frame. Many are now hoping for news next Monday. Others point out that people have already waited for news on previous Mondays as well and may simply be reading too much into the hardware shipments.
