It seems like Valve is not yet done with new announcements! The company unveiled three new gaming devices, namely, the Steam Machine, Frame, and the new Steam Controller. Fans in anticipation of the announcements were also hoping to get an update, if not a reveal, on Half-Life 3. Now, it looks like the game may soon be unveiled if the Steam store unlisted game is any indication.
Interestingly, Valve’s dedicated page on the Steam store shows ‘5’ upcoming releases. Four of these ‘items’ are clearly listed as Deadlock, the Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and the Steam Controller. However, a fifth is nowhere to be seen. Within the filters, two items are categories as “Game” and “Software.” While the Software filter doesn’t show anything, the Game filter shows only Deadlock, suggesting that there is another game in the back-end that has been hidden or kept unlisted, for now.
This is believed to be Half-Life 3. For quite some time now, rumors and leaks about the existence and development of the cult classic have been doing the rounds. Back in February, a datamine of a DOTA 2 update showed hints of HLX, believed to be the internal codename for Half-Life 3. Then in May, the same leaker reported that the game is being playtested and that it is playable end-to-end. The latest was that Half-Life 3 will be unveiled in November, followed by a possible presentation at The Game Awards in December.
Now, with an unlisted title in Valve’s portfolio, things could be finally falling into place. However, it should be noted that Valve has not shared any update on Half-Life 3 at all, so nothing may come out of it. That being said, one can always hope.
