Stellar Blade demo accidentally released on PlayStation Store, quickly removed
Stellar Blade is a hotly anticipated action game coming soon to the PlayStation 5 (PS5), but some gamers got an early taste of what the title has to offer. A demo of the game was briefly available for download through the PlayStation Store after it was accidentally published.
The demo was released on the PlayStation Store and was available to download for a little less than half an hour. The launch seems to be a mistake; it was promptly removed by Sony and is no longer available. Shortly after pulling the demo, Sony released a patch that rendered the demo unplayable, even by those that managed to snag it.
Several videos published on YouTube and other video platforms show off gameplay of the demo, with some managing to finish it entirely. Based on these videos, the demo sampled roughly the first hour or hour and a half of the game. Some gamers on Twitch also streamed the demo before it was rendered inoperable.
Neither Sony nor Shift Up, the South Korean studio developing the title, have commented on the demo's release or subsequent pull.
Stellar Blade is a PlayStation 5 exclusive. The game stars Eve, a young woman who must fight for survival in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with evil creatures. It looks like standard hack-and-slash fare. Based on the demo, the game runs at a steady 60 FPS, and its graphics look fairly good. The game is set to be released on April 26.
