Sony rolls out PlayStation 5 Beta system update with DualSense controller audio and noise cancellation improvements
Although most Sony PlayStation 5 users will have to wait for a while until these changes become final and roll out on a global scale, selected users from the US, Canada, Japan, the UK, France, and Germany are now receiving invites to test the latest beta firmware for their consoles. The update focuses on the audio experience but also targets Screen Share interactions and the looks of the power indicator.
In the audio department, the new Sony PlayStation 5 beta firmware provides a higher volume sound for the controller speaker and improved audio input quality thanks to a new AI machine learning model.
When watching Share Screen in full-screen mode, the users can interact with the host's gameplay with visual cues, namely pointers and emoji. This feature is available by default and can be turned off by the host. Obviously, all viewers and hosts involved must run the beta firmware to be able to use this feature for the time being.
One last visual touch of the new beta firmware for the PlayStation 5 console deals with its exterior. While something minor to many, it is good to know that users can now adjust the brightness of the power indicator. The options available are dim, medium, and bright (standard). To adjust the brightness, the user must go to Settings/System/Beep and Light/Brightness.
