Persona 4 remake and Persona 2 remaster allegeldy in the works
Unleashed in September 2016 and often hailed as one of the best role-playing games ever released, Persona 5 was the fastest-selling title in the franchise and sold over 3.2 million units worldwide by December 2019. By the end of 2023, the number exceeded 10 million. This success apparently prompted Atlus to bring back two older games from this family, namely Persona 2 and Persona 4. While the information is not official yet and the release dates mentioned are also very sketchy, there are some details worth talking about already.
Insiders familiar with the matter revealed yesterday that Persona 2 is getting a remaster with a new translation as its most obvious highlight, in addition to the inclusion of Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. While these titles were released on a limited number of consoles over two decades ago, the remastered package will work with all consoles on the market, including the next-gen Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2.
Persona 4, on the other hand, will get a remake. For now, there is nothing else to say about it, since it is supposed to launch in a few years. The Persona 2 remaster will come out around the launch date of Persona 6, but remains to see if that will be before or the year after. All these should be taken with a grain of salt for the time being and fans can only hope that Atlus will issue an official statement as soon as possible.
