According to Pocketpair’s CEO Takuro Mizobe latest tweet, Palworld’s server maintenance fees cost a fortune. To which lead network engineer Chujo Hiroto responded that they’re never letting the service down, regardless of the cost.

Palworld, possibly one of the biggest games of 2024, apparently has very high server maintenance fees. As per Takuro Mizobe, the CEO of Pocketpair studio, it costs 70 million yen (which is around $475,000) to keep the servers going.

Mizobe tweeted that the servers are becoming expensive to maintain, and even joked that fees might cause the studio to go bankrupt. To this, Palworld network engineer Chujo Hiroto, responded that they are following orders to “never let the service go down no matter what” and the servers have been set up without looking at the cost.

Even though the servers struggled to keep up with an unexpectedly massive launch, there have been fewer complaints recently, which can be attributed to the large upkeep cost. Since its release, Palworld has amassed over 19 million players on Steam and Xbox combined. Considering these figures, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the game has generated over $200 million just from Steam sales.

Currently, Palworld is available on Microsoft Windows and Xbox. This means, the game can be downloaded and played on PC, laptop, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, Lenovo Legion Go, Asus ROG Ally, and Steam Deck (curr. $554.79 on Amazon).
