Palworld and Terraria are teasing an upcoming collaboration, and, although not much has been revealed about the cross-over, some members of the Terraria community have expressed concerns over Terraria's development and even potential legal repercussions from Nintendo.

Palworld's developer, Pocket Pair today announced a collaboration with indie survivalcraft stalwart, Terraria. The collaboration is due to land in Palworld's next major update, coming in early 2025, but that's about all Pocket Pair and Re-Logic have divulged about the collaboration.

Despite the absence of any real information about the Palworld x Terraria cross-over, the Terraria community has already shared its concerns over the collaboration. Discussions on the Terraria forum have mostly been a mixed bag, with some Terraria community members taking issue with a new collaboration when Re-Logic has yet to provide the 1.4.5 update that is meant to usher in the Dead Cells collaboration promised over a year ago.

That 1.4.5 update initially started as a minor update, but has since ballooned into a much more convoluted affair, thanks largely to feature creep. Since the update's announcement, it has been repeatedly delayed, initially to 2024, but now it will seemingly only land in 2025.

Others still have raised concern over Pocket Pair, the indie developer behind Palworld, currently being embroiled in a legal battle with Nintendo over alleged patent violations. The main concern raised here is that, by collaborating with Pocket Pair on the allegedly infringing game, Terraria could draw the ire of Nintendo and put the Switch version of Terraria at risk.

At the end of the day, Palworld and Terraria share some similarities when it comes to gameplay, with both games relying heavily on survival-craft, building, and companion mechanics. Still, it remains to be seen how Terraria and Palworld will end up crossing over, but, given Re-Logic's current workload and focus on the 1.4.5 update, it seems likely that the result will be some Terraria features or call-outs in Palworld, instead of the opposite way around.

Both Terraria and Palworld are great on handheld gaming consoles, like the Asus ROG Ally, which has been discounted to $499.99 for Black Friday.
