With its "durable" metallic chassis apparently rated for resistance to conditions such as exposure to water, dust, insects and extreme temperatures, the Skyworth Clarus is touted as well set up to "withstand the demands of being placed outside for long periods". The OEM also asserts that its display also has the specs necessary to be fully sunlight-visible in its intended use-case.
They include a mini-LED concentration of 1,400 or more to make up its backlight, which, according to Skyworth, helps achieve the contrast necessary to keep a big screen usable outdoors. The Clarus will also ship with an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust color temperature and brightness in keeping with changes in daylight intensity.
The Clarus also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 as well as Dolby Atmos for its inbuilt 8-speaker audio system rated for up to 100W (well, it is intended to work outdoors, after all). The TV may be a straightforward extension to a smart home thanks to Google TV for its content-management, UI and Assistant features.
Accordingly, Skyworth touts its new product as an "outdoor cinema", despite having yet to mention a size or resolution thus far; this information may go live along with its price on the Clarus' pre-order pages, to be found on its North American website from January 1, 2023.
