Scott launches new Voltage eRIDE electric mountain bikes with lighter motor
Scott Sports has unveiled a new e-MTB, the Voltage eRIDE. There are a total of six versions offered: the Scott Voltage eRIDE 900 SL, the Scott Voltage eRIDE 900 Tuned, the Scott Voltage eRIDE 910, the Scott Contessa Voltage eRIDE 900, the Scott Voltage eRIDE 920 and the Scott Contessa Voltage eRIDE 910.
The Voltage eRIDE is powered by a TQ-HPR50 drive unit delivering 50Nm torque and a top speed of 25 kph (EU) and 20 mph (US). The mid-mounted motor, particularly light at 1.8 kg (~4.0 lbs), is powered by a 360Wh battery. Plus, an optional range extender provides an extra 160Wh capacity; this comes as standard with the 900 SL. You can connect your phone via Bluetooth to tweak the power output settings in the TQ smartphone app, with in-ride controls offered via a handlebar remote. Plus, a display integrated into the top tube can display the remaining battery life, your speed and range.
The four more expensive models feature suspension parts from FOX with 160 mm front and 155 mm rear travel. The cheaper 920 and Contessa 900 models feature Marzocchi and Fox elements, with 150 mm travel at the front and 155 mm at the rear. More differences are seen for the transmission and disc brakes, with SRAM models for the 900 SL and 900 tuned and Shimano equivalents for the other versions. While all the tires are from Maxxis, the types differ between the e-bikes. The bicycles are also lightweight, with the lightest 900 SL model weighing just 17.9 kg (~39.5 lbs).
