Samsung officially announces One UI 6.1 update schedule and details which devices will receive new Galaxy AI features
Samsung has formally announced expanded One UI 6.1 availability, an update that launched last month with the Galaxy S24 series, including the flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra (curr. $1,299.99 on Amazon). Additionally, the company has revealed which devices will be eligible, although not necessarily when.
As expected, Samsung will restrict One UI 6.1 to recent flagships, which are as follows:
- Galaxy S23 FE
- Galaxy S23
- Galaxy S23 Plus
- Galaxy S23 Ultra
- Galaxy Tab S9
- Galaxy Tab S9 Plus
- Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold5
- Galaxy Z Flip5
For reference, Samsung outlined as much over a month ago to Android Authority. However, it has now disclosed when its One UI 6.1 rollout will begin. Specifically, the interim update will begin reaching the devices listed above at the end of March. While One UI 6.1 could arrive earlier in some markets than others, it seems that previous rumours of a March release were somewhat wide of the mark.
At any rate, Samsung confirmed that most core Galaxy AI features will be headed to One UI 6.1 eligible devices. For example, Chat Assist, Circle to Search and Generative Edit will be integrated within One UI 6.1 for the likes of the Galaxy S23 series, as will Live Translate and Interpreter. Moreover, Samsung's Browsing, Note and Transcript 'Assist' services will also make an appearance. For some reason, the Galaxy S23 FE will not receive Instant Slow-Mo, although its eight counterparts will. Presumably, Samsung will issue a full One UI 6.1 release schedule at some stage, although these are often region-specific.
