Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2017 SM-T385

Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2017) Review: A tab meant for only multimedia consumption
Source: The Mobile Indian English Archive.org version
To conclude, the tablet does looks like an interesting proposition as it does offer some good battery backup and display. However, the performance of the device is quite average and so is the camera. So, if you are looking for a tablet only for multimedia need, only then you can consider this tablet as an option.

60% Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2017) review: Lots to go, but has some misses
Source: Gadgets Now English Archive.org version
Overall, we think that at a price of Rs 17,990, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A is a good buy. It has a sturdy built and design, a vibrant display and is a performer. The downsides are the gaming experience , and the average cameras. But if you can live with these, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A is a good buy for you. However, we also think that there will be those who would rather spend the same money on a big-screen smartphone than opt for a tablet.

Qualcomm Adreno 308: Integrated mid-range graphics card in the Snapdragon 425 SoCs that supports OpenGL ES 3.0 and features unified shaders.

425: Entry-level SoC that was announced in February 2016. It integrates 4 ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores clocked at up to 1.4 GHz, an LPDDR3 memory controller and wireless radios for WiFi and 4G/LTE.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

8.00":

This display size is a threshold between tablets and smartphones. Most tablets have larger screen diagonals but a lot of smartphones offer such a big screen.

Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

0.364 kg:

This weight is somewhat high for a smartphone. Smartphones with a big screen and small tablets weigh as much, usually.

Samsung: The Samsung Group is composed of numerous international businesses, all united under the Samsung brand in South Korea. The meaning of the Korean word Samsung is "tristar" or "three stars". The Samsung brand is one of the most important brands of South Korea. Samsung is an international notebook manufacturer of medium size according market shares and reviews.

In 2015 and 2016, Samsung had a market share of around 24-25% in the global smartphone market and was undisputed market leader. In the laptop sector, Samsung is on the 8th place in the global manufacturer rankings from 2014-2016 with 1.7-2.7%.

In 2016 Samsung slipped into a crisis due to exploding smartphone batteries and a failed recall action.
