While the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 was more of a boring update, the Plus model comes with optional 5G connectivity and a fast SoC for the price range. This makes the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+ 5G an exciting alternative for tablets under €300 ($253).

Samsung hasn’t tried to reinvent the wheel with the Galaxy Tab A11 Plus. In fact, it has barely touched it. And honestly, for a budget tablet, that’s not always the worst thing. The Dimensity 7300 chipset holds up well for everyday use, performance rarely gets in the way, and you get one of the more feature-rich Android experiences in this segment. Seven years of promised software updates is also something no other manufacturer at this price comes close to offering, and the upgraded chip means it’ll get longer into that lifespan without slowing down. Switching to an IPS panel would have made this a much easier recommendation across the board. The TFT screen isn’t a total deal-breaker, and you do adjust to it after a few days, but if you use your tablet primarily for streaming and media consumption as I do, you’ll feel it every time you sit down to watch something.

This comes down to what you're looking for in a tablet. The Galaxy Tab A+ does what it's meant to do and provides an accessible option for casual users who'll benefit from its decent visuals and everyday practicality. Professionals and creatives might be better off spending a bit more for the superior performance, crisper display, and S Pen functionality of Samsung's other tablets. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this tablet for my admittedly light use. Price is the deciding factor, and I don't feel the need to pay twice as much for tablets with features I don't need.

Given that it had two years to come up with a successor to the Galaxy Tab A9+, it’s disappointing to note that the Galaxy Tab A11+ is business as usual. That ‘business’ means a perfectly functional, pleasant-to-use budget tablet, but we’d really have hoped for something more by this point. Samsung’s budget rivals offer more for similar money.
