Pros
Cons
The Oppo Pad 5 is a midrange tablet that aims to deliver a near-flagship experience, highlighted by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chip and an ARM Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU. It pairs that performance with a 12.1-inch IPS display at 3000 x 2120 resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, positioning it as a smooth device for study, reading, and entertainment. Reviewers particularly frame it as a strong “Netflix binge” and travel-friendly tablet, with good battery life supported by a 10,420 mAh pack. A Matte Display Edition is also referenced as especially suitable for long note-taking sessions and eye comfort, and some variants add 5G connectivity. Connectivity is modern, including USB-C with Power Delivery, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi‑Fi up to Wi‑Fi 7. Overall sentiment is positive for the price, with the key caveat that it is not intended to replace a laptop.

The Oppo Pad 5 is a fantastic tablet for its price, and I have no trouble recommending it, especially to average users and students. That said, similar tablets from other companies are available, so choose the one that best fits your needs. But truth be told, tablets like these are purpose-built for a specific role, and I think the Oppo Pad 5 does what it’s intended to do. Just don’t expect it to replace your laptop. That’s not going to happen.

The Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display Edition is a solid midrange tablet that offers a specialised emphasis for prolific note takers and those who need to work for extended durations thanks to its matte LCD display. Add in decent performance, good battery life and 5G connectivity and you have an otherwise solid choice for its price range. In terms of pricing, the 5G-capable version of the tablet is more affordable than many competing 5G-capable tablets with similar specifications. If you aren’t tied into a specific brand ecosystem and value reading comfort, all day productivity and note-taking capabilities, it’s well worth a look.

At first glance, the OPPO Pad 5 might look like just another routine upgrade, but once you actually use it, you’ll realize it’s far more than that. In real-world performance, display quality, system smoothness, and battery life, this tablet goes well beyond what’s expected from its category. Powered by the Dimensity 9400+ flagship chip, the OPPO Pad 5 handles demanding games like Genshin Impact and Game for Peace effortlessly, maintaining full-frame performance with excellent temperature control. The 3K soft light display not only delivers a stunning, immersive viewing experience but also keeps eye comfort in check, even during long study or reading sessions — it’s almost on par with a dedicated e-reader.Battery life is another highlight.
