Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE
Samsung is introducing a fan edition of the Galaxy Tab S9, called the Galaxy Tab S9 FE. With this move, Samsung aims to bridge the gap between its flagship models and the more budget-friendly A-series. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE foregoes OLED technology and Snapdragon processing power but comes with a more affordable price tag. We explored for whom this cost-effective option is more suitable.

If you're considering picking up the Tab S9 FE+, I recommend considering exactly what you need from your next tablet. This device is for you if you're after a big screen and long battery life. If you're okay with something smaller or that serves as a second device when you aren't using it, the Pixel Tablet is always a great option. It has a smaller 10.2-inch screen and a Tensor G2 processor, and it comes with a speaker dock that turns the device into a smart display. Is your heart set on a big tablet for watching movies and multitasking on the go? Keep your spending in check with the Tab S9 FE+. There's nothing special that stands out about the device, but as a general everyday tablet (that happens to be larger than average and comes with a stylus in the box), it's quite good.

One of the best reasons to get this tablet is that it’s a serious multitasking machine for not all that much cash. Like the more expensive Tab S9, this device can run three apps side-by-side thanks to Samsung’s robust multi-window feature. The mid-range processor isn’t as bulletproof in multi-window as a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, but it gets the job done. We’re more concerned with the mere 6GB of RAM in the base model. Samsung is fairly aggressive with memory management, so you may find that apps close in the background faster than they do on other devices. It does, however, support 5G if you opt for the cellular model. That’s an upgrade over the Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus, which, in the US at least, does not have a cellular option.

The Samsung Tab S9 FE is a good tablet for users who want a large-screen device for entertainment, productivity, and creativity, but don’t want to spend too much on flagship devices like Tab S9 or the Tab S9 Ultra. The tablet offers a sleek and slim design, a bright and sharp display, a smooth and intuitive user interface and a decent battery life. The tablet, however, also has some limitations. The display, although bright and sharp, is an LCD panel in a world of OLEDs, the tablet’s cameras are mediocre, and the device isn’t available in an LTE configuration. Face unlock has been an area of trouble for me with the Tab S9 FE, though you might or might not encounter an issue with it.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE is a solid mid-tier tablet that mostly makes the right cuts from the non-FE range in order to shave hundreds off the cost. Among its competitors, it stands out as a tablet that includes a great stylus at no extra cost, making it of instant appeal for those who want to dabble in digital art. The base iPad and OnePlus Pad are both better picks for gaming, though, as they have significantly more power. Just like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the S9 FE only has enough power to get by.

Okay, let’s wrap things up now. So, if you want a decent multimedia experience and something that can cruise through everyday usage and all, the Xiaomi Pad 6 is the best option out there for just Rs. 40,000. Even if you’re someone who’s gonna make the most out of a tablet by multitasking, gaming, or by pairing it with accessories like a stylus, this is clearly the way to go. For Rs. 81,000, the Tab S9 FE doesnt posses the best value as it comes with a weak Exynos processor and a ordinary 90Hz screen. However, you can still opt for it, if you are in a Samsung ecosystem, and need 5G connectivity.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 FE is another strong mid-range tablet, and a much better proposition than the Samsung Galaxy S7 FE which came before it. It might not have the large, sharp, display of the Lenovo Tab P12, nor the rapid performance of the OnePlus Pad, but it has its own distinct charms. Those include a uniquely accomplished waterproof design and the best stylus system in the business bundled in as standard, adding value. Its screen, while unexceptional, is bright and fluid, and its performance is similarly solid-if-unspectacular. Battery life, too, doesn’t let the side down. While it doesn’t sing or shout, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE is a pleasingly complete all-round tablet package for $450/£450. It’s the kind of capable, pleasant-to-use tablet that will happily sit there on your coffee table performing simple tasks for years to come without issue.

Unboxing the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE, a more budget-friendly Fan Edition of the pricey Sammy tablet, with a hands-on review of the gaming chops, plus multi-tasking and more. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE starts from £449 in the UK, so almost half price! Plus you get that S Pen stylus bundled in the box. One of the major downgrades is the performance, with an Exynos chipset replacing that Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Thankfully this doesn't impact the everyday experience much. You can still game on Genshin Impact on the Galaxy Tab S9 FE. However, you'll want to lower the graphics settings on this Fan Edition for a proper smooth frame rate. The Samsung Tab S9 FE also scraps that gorgeous OLED screen, replacing it with a more basic IPS display. Grab the Plus model and it's even bigger. Contrast isn't as sharp and there's no HDR support, but it's still quite bright, poppy and sharp.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE represents a potentially new opportunity for the company. Even though it’s technically not groundbreaking for a tablet, I think there’s a combination of things going on here that merits applause. For starters, the $450 starting cost is aggressive — giving it the fair amount of separation between the Galaxy Tab A-series and Galaxy Tab S9 series. The Tab S9 FE is positioned right in the middle, but it undeniably packs a lot of value because of its premium design, S Pen inclusion, and DeX functionality. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE can’t be overlooked, especially if it ends up producing amazing results with our testing.

After not making an FE version of the S22 last year, Samsung’s most affordable line of Galaxy gadgets is back for 2023 with a bit of a twist. Instead of being shorthand for “fan edition,” going forward the FE tag will simply denote gadgets that are a bit cheaper but still offer many of the same features and design as their flagship siblings.

Model:
Samsung Tab S9 FE
The latest to join the Samsung family is none other than the Samsung Tab S9 FE. As far as its design is concerned, this device carries a typical tablet design which is typically just a big screen with an aluminium jacket which has been squared off rather than having rounded corners. Well, it definitely looks very similar to the more expensive “non-FE” Galaxy Tab S9, with just slightly thicker screen borders. While the two lines share the same footprint dimensions, the Tab S9 has an 11-inch screen to this one’s 10.9-inch one. Apart from that, it is worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE also lacks the rear grooves that the more expensive Samsung tablets have which shows where the stylus sits. However, this arguably only makes the FE look better and cleaner as there are still magnets in the back for the pen to hook onto. This tablet also has ridiculously good water resistance for a tablet, which typically are not subjected to the elements as often as a phone. In addition, this device has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. While it is not as intuitively placed or as fast as the best phone finger scanners, it does seems to work just fine though.
In terms of its screen, this tablet has a 10.9-inch screen which is just a 90Hz LCD display and not one of Samsung’s signature OLED panels. However, it is undeniable that the colours on the screen pops just as much as that of the average tablet or phone OLED screen. It is worth mentioning that this tablet comes in with an S Pen stylus. Basically, this is a full-size plastic pen with 4096 pressure sensitivity levels and tilt detection, which make it a pretty high-fidelity drawing tool. Well, creating digital art or doodles with this thing feels great as the S-Pen has a proper tip with a little give to it to avoid users simply sketching with a hard nib on hard glass.
Talking about its performance, The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE has enough power for most jobs to which it is well-suited, but this is one of the weakest areas for the tablet. This is due to the fact that it uses the Samsung Exynos 1380 chipset with either 6GB or 8GB RAM. This is not nearly as punchy as the Dimensity 9000 of the OnePlus Pad or the A13 Bionic of the cheapest iPad. As far as its camera is concerned, this device has been equipped with two cameras which includes an 8MP one on the back and a 12MP one upfront. The front camera is the most interesting as Samsung had used the higher resolution sensor to style it out as though the Tab has two cameras. In terms of its battery, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE has an 8000mAh battery, just a little lower than the capacity of the 8400mAh Tab S9. Overall, it is a great tablet to be explored, depending on the need and preference of the user.
