Samsung pulled off this surprise very well. Following the rather predictable presentation of the Galaxy S25 series, a "one-more-thing" finale ultimately roused up something like genuine enthusiasm in the hall. Unfortunately, Samsung decided to remove the short Galaxy S25 Edge teaser video from the recording of the Galaxy Unpacked event, and it has not yet appeared on the official YouTube channel either.
Galaxy S25 Edge expected to launch in summer
What the thinnest Galaxy S25 model will look like is already known from numerous images of early prototypes and recent photos. How the Galaxy S25 Edge will differ technically from the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra is not yet known in detail, but it is likely to occupy a position between the Plus model and the Ultra variant. According to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, who cites official statements by Samsung President TM Roh, the Galaxy S25 Edge will be available in the middle of the year and, contrary to earlier rumors, also in the US.
Galaxy S25 Edge to be a thinner Galaxy 25 Ultra
Samsung's thinnest smartphone would thus come onto the market before the iPhone 17 Air, which is scheduled to be launched in September at the earliest. Roh is also quoted as saying that Samsung has "...been trying to combine all the advantages of the S25 Ultra in a slimmer form factor", which clearly indicates flagship specs. The Samsung executive also made a vague statement about the price level: The Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to be cheaper than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which currently has a starting price of $1,299.99 on Amazon.
"Multi-foldable" will be Samsung's first tri-foldable
Roh also commented on the choice of name: "Edge" is not only a reference to the thin form factor but also to the brand-new technology that will be installed. Anyone who paid attention to yesterday's livestream will have also discovered another teaser that was hidden in a briefly displayed image towards the end of the launch event. Here, a Samsung spokesperson mentions the launch of a "multi-foldable" in the near future, which was also shown schematically alongside two mixed/augmented reality headsets (see below).
