Resident Evil Veronica release date delay leaks after skipping Tokyo Game Show

Fans have not seen the Code Veronica remake since Capcom announced the survival horror title at the June Summer Game Fest. An insider now warns that developers are rethinking elements of the game. Dusk Golem learned that a Resident Evil Veronica release date in fall 2027 may be more realistic.

Fears of an internal delay

Capcom only confirmed a 2027 launch window for the project. Still, while Dusk Golem has a somewhat mixed track record for leaks, he said in January that it was aiming for early 2027. The reliable NateTheHate also believed that the first half of the same year is the target.

According to the latest rumor, the studio is “making some late changes to the game, the scope & time to do such were a bit in the air.” In a social media post, Golem speculates that these tweaks are taking longer than originally expected.

Many followers hoped that the Code Veronica remake would resurface at the Tokyo Game Show 2026. Resident Evil games like Requiem, which offered a playable demo in 2025 months ahead of launch, have had a strong presence at the event. Unfortunately, some survival horror enthusiasts left the latest showcase disappointed. Instead, the publisher promoted the RE2, RE3, and RE4 Switch 2 ports.

The leaker suspects that if a Resident Evil Veronica release date in early 2027 were likely, marketing would have already ramped up. Now, all eyes will be on the December 10th Game Awards. That said, even if the Capcom game appears then, it may struggle to avoid an internal delay.

Where is the gameplay?

Another warning sign is that developers haven’t shared gameplay footage. The Summer Game Fest cinematic trailer showed Claire Redfield searching for clues in her brother Chris’ apartment. However, viewers later discovered that the first-person perspective didn't reflect playable builds.

Beyond the third-person camera, gamers also know Resident Evil Veronica is much more than a remaster. Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi explained that the original story had been reshuffled to connect to recent releases in the series.
