Realme GT7 Pro touted to have global smartphone market's brightest display on launch
The Realme GT series aims to go from flagship-killing status in India with the last-gen 6 (as seen on Amazon.in) to outright top-tier status with its new 7 Pro flagship. The brand asserts that it will let users "Explore the Unexplored" with its Mars-themed design and top-end specs, the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite processor included.
The GT7 Pro already stands out on the Chinese market as the only device with that SoC and a RealWorld Eco² OLED display developed in partnership with Samsung. It will also grace the units to be sold on the Indian market - with 1 subtle difference.
The RealWorld Eco² screen reprised Realme's class-leading 6,000-nit peak brightness rating on its introduction to the Chinese market - however, its latest Indian teaser puts that metric at the even higher value of 6,500 nits.
It should be noted that Realme defines "peak brightness" as a measure of localized luminance under internal testing conditions; nevertheless, it might give the GT7 Pro bragging rights as the world's new record-breaker in this regard.
In addition, it might make a nice consolation prize following the revelation that the 7 Pro will come with a regional battery size downgrade.
In any case, the brand puts the smartphone's more everyday HBM brightness at the same 2,000-nit level as the non-global GT7 Pro.
The smartphone should also offer perks such as an "Underwater" camera mode thanks to an IP69-rated build, a premium ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and an IR blaster to go with its "360°" NFC chip on its November 16, 2024 debut.
