The price is likely one of the main reasons to consider the Nitro V 17 with RTX 5070. At the same time, our test reveals that this budget-focused gaming laptop has several features that set it apart from its competitors.
Price-performance ratio is impressive
According to price comparison sites, the Acer Nitro V 17 AI we tested is not only among the cheapest 17-inch gaming laptops with an RTX 5070. With a street price of around €1,249 – sometimes even as low as €1,199 – it sits alongside the Lenovo LOQ 17 G10 and the Omen 16 as one of the most affordable RTX 5070 laptops available.
First impressions are surprising
Despite the low price, the Nitro V 17 feels solidly built and comes fairly well equipped, with features like USB 4 and Wi-Fi 6E. Of course, Acer makes a few compromises at this price point – the 720p webcam is one example – but the overall feature set is still strong.
The real strengths of this 17-inch gaming laptop lie elsewhere:
Efficiency over maximum performance
Our short review shows that Acer prioritizes efficient gaming with the Nitro V 17. Gamers who don’t need peak frame rates can enjoy a quiet, energy-saving experience – an approach that is rarely seen in this price range. A similar concept has been observed in the Asus TUF Gaming A18, but it remains unusual for sub-€1,300 17-inch RTX 5070 laptops.
Room for improvement
If you aim to offer one of the cheapest laptops in its category, a few compromises are inevitable – and it’s not just the 720p webcam. Display quality, RAM configuration, and certain benchmark results make it clear that the Nitro V 17 is not a no-compromise high-end gaming laptop.

These compromises are, however, largely offset by the Nitro V 17’s high efficiency, notably its low noise levels and energy-saving design, not to mention the attractive price tag.
